Conversation. Is it this that makes us human? That separates us from our primal ancestors? Or separates us from each other?  Over the past 5 months Lucy Haighton has been exploring these ideas and now presents ‘Ruido’, a dance theatre solo exploring language and communication barriers in the human world. May 5h – 7th, University of Sheffield, Firth Hall, S10 2 Sheffield, UK.

New 8 channels acousmatic piece during the Sound Laboratory: Sound Junction Weekend: Cinema for the ear – electronic music that transcends barriers. Investigating the frontiers of contemporary electronic music, with an immersive experience of three-dimensional sound; unbound by pitch or rhythm, instrumentation or abstraction.
Featuring performances from University students and staff, alongside special guests including Jonty Harrison and Denis Smalley.

 

May 8th – June 8th, University of Bergen, Norway:

Academic visit to the University of Bergen in Norway to research and start a collaborative project on combinatory literature and human computation within the framework of the Bergen Electronic Literature Research Group (BEL) leaded by Professor Scott Rettberg at the Department of Linguistic, Literary and Aesthetic Studies.

June 9th – Hope Works, Unit 1 A Hope Works,Sussex Road, S4 7YQ Sheffield, UK.

Concert as part of the Sheffield University Sound Laboratory during the No Bounds Festival (adventurously exploring a world beyond limitations ).

No Bounds is a new festival of music, art and technology in Sheffield ,UK. June 9th is a launch event for the full festival which will happen 13-15th October 2017. This June 9th event is an all day affair of music, art, talks, workshops, installations, exhibitions performance and adventure over multiple venues here in Sheffield including Hope Works. 1pm – 7am!

The line-up includes a huge and strong amount of electronic artists, ranging between edm and experimental, including Nina Kraviz, Algorave Yaxu and many others:
